Any accident repairers in Cardiff area? - Need new r/bumper

PostPost by: spyzee » Sat Sep 11, 2010 1:57 pm

Can anyone recommend a glass fibre repairer in the Cardiff area? I've only just run the car in, had the rolling road session and then someone ran into the back of me. Just simply an accident whilst we we both trying to avoid a lorry in the lanes. I managed to get off the brakes and get the car moving before it was hit otherwise it could have been much worse. As it is the rear bumper is split and most of the impact went down through the rear valance bit below the bumper. No one hurt, car still drives but the approved insurers have said they are not geared up for fibreglass repairs. So I'm looking around for someone who does.

Hi Spyzee

not too many of us in the Cardiff area where are you?

OK - you will get lots of people telling you to go to SMS or Option 1 if you want the job done properly (also you should be aware of further damage showing itself over next few weeks so don't jump in too quick).

However if you want to keep it local there are probably only 3 options - the TVR dealers in Cwmbran - Newton Motors have a guy that does all their repairs, Davies Motor Group on Hadfield Road do all Stratstone Lotus' repairs or the other is a guy I know who has worked for a bodyshop for 30+ years loves Lotus' and he rebuilt my twincam for me 10+ years ago - I'd have to dig around to find him now .

Hope it goes well

Thanks Steve, looks like a bit of time and research needed. Will ring the brokers on Monday to see what they can offer on the where to get the estimates done.

My new view from the boot - it could almost pass for a work of art.

Fortunately everything else looks ok but I'll accept your advice on the wait and see bit.

Crop that top picture a bit and get it framed - that looks good.
