clutch cover numbers

PostPost by: Wayne » Wed Jul 28, 2010 6:37 pm

I have two clutch covers on my shelf I need to identify. One is part number 76251/31 (Elan early?) the other is 76252/35 that does not have the raised platen, is this the Elan later style?

Thanks
Wayne

Hi Wayne,
I have an AP/Borg & Beck clutch application listing dated 1969.
Part 76251/31 is listed as the clutch for the MGB.
Part 76252/35 is not listed, so was probably introduced after 1969.
AFAIK all 4 speed Elans had a clutch with a release bearing platten, so if it has no platten, it's probably not an Elan clutch.
For the Elan application it lists part 75618/22 for cars '63 on, and part 75618/24 for cars '68 on.
Regards,
Peter.

The 5-speed +2 has a cover without the platten.
