Registration Letters

PostPost by: SprinTango » Sun Jul 11, 2010 10:51 pm

Hello folks,
After a 25 year gap in Elan ownership I've taken the plunge and am about to collect a 1972 Elan Sprint. The car is mostly original apart from a conventional registration plate fixed below the intake grille. Are the original type letters still available anywhere, or do I need to start scavenging around breakers yards?
Thanks, Nigel

I seem to recall seeing them mentioned on Christopher Neil's website.

They may be available from the other usual suppliers too.

You can still get the separate numbers/letters but if you are in the UK and are not the registered owner you will need a certificate from the DVLA to get them, there was a discussion on these a while back ....best to search the archives.
Paul Matty still supplies them and there is also a listing under business listings on this forum for them. business-listings-f3/framptons-classic-number-plates-t19148.html

I've just ordered a rear plate and individual letters for the front plate from Framptons for my Seven. They do them in silver or white.

Thanks for the steer towards Framptons. Once I have the registration document back in my name, I'll be on to them!
