Prop shaft balancing

PostPost by: innesw » Thu Apr 08, 2010 10:39 am

Hi,
I need to get my 5-speed prop shaft rebalanced and was wondering if anybody has any recommendations or wheres good to go for this. I'm up in Aberdeenshire so it's a courier delivery job and I'm not really bothered where they are located in the UK as I can't seem to find any in Scotland.

Cheers
Innes

Hi

I have used these but it was 15 years ago.

Dynoprop Balancing. 1a Harold Court Road, Romford, RM3 0YU

Have you tried putting propshaft balancing into Goggle?

Innes,

If you're looking for a Scottish propshaft service, then I can recommended Propshaft Services Ltd in Bonnybridge, near Falkirk. Alan Stewart runs the company and he can be reached by telephone 01324 813287; by mobile 07836 346466; and by e-mail - astewart at propshaftservices dot com. No connection other than as a satisfied customer.

Andrew

Innes,
bear in mind that the 5 speed prop can be split at the splines and it will be out of balance if it's put back on the wrong splines after balancing.

Before it's balanced, make sure that the two hookes joints are aligned properly and then mark which way it's assembled. I think there may be two combinations of splines that align the joints correctly (180 degrees apart) but I may be wrong and there may only be one option.

My shaft had been put back together with the joints missaligned when I got it.

Please let me know if that's not clear!!!

I used these guys to make me a completely new propshaft for my Seven and can recommend them, but they are in London.
