Speedo repair

PostPost by: ianf » Sat Jan 23, 2010 9:52 am

Morning all,

My odometer has given up and I find that speedy cables have a one month waiting list at the moment (not unusual according to a friend who has used them a couple of times) so I wondered if anyone had used speedo repairs of frimley green? The chap appears to be a motorbike instrument specialist but as anticipated isn't around Saturday. (don't blame him). Or if anyone knows any other repairer in Surrey-ish area as I would rather use a local company if possible.

Many thanks,

Ian

I have used two companies - Speedy Cables with their standard 4 weeks waiting time and JDO in Yorkshire.

I've used the Frimley Green man (a Mr Pople) a couple of times for bike speedos and his work is thorough - but not that quick (about a month, in fact :? )

Hi
I've used Speedograph Richfield first to sort my errant Tach and then to repair my oil pressure/water temp qauge. See http://www.speedograph-richfield.com/. In both cases they gave excellent service. The rev counter they said one week but actually turned it round in 48 hours, with the oil/water they did take one week. Would certainly go there again.

Thanks for the repies guys very helpful. I will call Speedograph R in the morning to see what their lead times are at the moment (popular time of the year for fixing things isn't it - I'm having the underside of my bonnet and cam cover painted next week as well!).

I liked their website with proper instructions etc.

I will let you know how it goes - have to take it out yet!!

I dropped the speedo off to Speedograph R yesterday I happen to be near Nottingham this weekend. They seem great guys there and have quoted 10 days to 2 weeks. I left my old smiths dual gauge with them as well, I had fitted a CA rep' when it broke 5-6 years ago, it will be nice to have a set of functioning matching dials. I've gone mad recently, having the cam cover re-crackled and the underside of the bonnet resprayed to go with the nice new rad' fitted last year. Seats next....

I will let you know how much & how long later.

Cheers, Ian

Hi chaps, speedo & dual gauge came back 2 weeks and a day after I dropped them off, only got them back in for the mot yesterday. ( freezing in the garage) both worked fine although the smiths oil pressure is a bit lower than the copy. Maybe swap 'em back when the engine wears a bit!

Bill was just over ?130 for both incl post back and a new oil pipe in cars the old one goes.

Old girl passed by the way!
