5 Speed Box Overhaul

PostPost by: stuartgb100 » Tue May 06, 2008 6:01 pm

Can anyone recommend a really good place to get a 5 speed overhauled ?

Even better if they have good race prep experience.

Tks and Regards,
Stuart.

PS: If anyone could get me copirs of any of the Service updates that were periodically issued, I'd be most grateful.

Try Stephenson Transmission in Preston.
My earlier post July 4th 2007 has their contact details and a reference to their modifications to work around obsolete bearing issues.
Gerry.

PS, if you search this forum, you will find several satisfied customers reference to their good work.

I'd have thought that Lotus 5 speed and race prep are a contradiction ! The 5 speed is not well known for its strength behind a road driven Big Valve twink, or for that matter in the later Elite, let alone in a race application?

I have had gearboxes rebuilt by both Graham Boulton in Dereham, Norfolk, 01362 694367, and Alan Voigts, Wallasey, Merseyside, 0510 630 3575. Alan Voigts also does the Sierra T9 conversion for the Elan and Plus 2.

I can highly recommend them both.

Thanks for all the advice. Plumped for Graham Boulton, since he's nearest.

Will let you know how it goes.

Regards,
Stuart.
