Which is easier to re-install engine or engine and gearbox?

PostPost by: Bruce Crowthorne » Sat Jun 02, 2007 5:13 pm

I now have my rolling chassis ready.
Engine is ready
Gearbox is ready

So is it easier to install the gearbox first and then the engine or bolt the gearbox to the engine and drop the pair in?

Body is still off the chassis, so access is no problem.
I have a Spyder (non spaceframe) chassis with the removable cross member if that makes it easier.
My lifting kit can lift both engine and gearbox without a problem.

Any (helpful) advice gratefully received
Thanks
Bruce

Its been discussed before Bruce and opinions differ, I find it easier to remove the engine and gearbox separately but then refit them as one unit, its a case of whatever works for you.

With the body off, most definately engine & g/box complete is the easiest & quickest , in my oppinion.

Agreed- with body off it's dead easy to do them together; and with body on too, come to think of it.

Cheers,
Pete.
