2000E semi close 1st gear welding itself to mainshaft

Hi Trevor, Like Rohan, we have been running a Quaife straight cut synchro gear set in our 220hp 2.0 litre Elan for two years and with 1700cc and 200hp for 3 years before that, revving to 8500 with zero problems.We use Castrol VMX M 75-85. You need ear muffs for the noise! I seem to remember the Quaife kit uses steel synchro rings.
