THe above link has some photos of BMK 723A, this is the 15th Lotus Cortina produced and most likely what Paddy is refering to in his post on the early S1. If you ever happened across on I would guess ?500 may get you close to owning one.
Shift knob out of 26/4997, not so dear but maybe ?100 to ?200 would be a another guess.
Closeup of the ACBC logo on the top.
S4 shift knob from my S4 SE Coupe.
Not a shift knob but Beauregard out on the porch this morning after an nightfall of snow. Somewhere around a foot (maybe more) of the white stuff came down a day before the winter solstice arives this year. Oh yea, the deck was clear at 2 am when I went out to secure the cover on Tingles race car body that had blown loose in the 30 to 40 mph winds. I need to address this before the next storm.

Hi
this is a messagefor Terry P.
He asked for a 4 speed plate for a gearknob. I've got one spare and asked him to send me his address so i can find out the postage costs. Unfortunately he didn't reply to that message so he might not have received it.
If he still wants the plate perhaps he'd contact me via the forum.
Regards
John

There you have it, John.
4 speed - 5/16" UNF
5 speed - 3/8" UNC
I have to correct myself here - The 5 speed knob has an M10 thread and not 3/8" unified.
I just found this out when working on a new gear lever.
