Yes, I suppose that could have been done but a lot of work because then the vertical body to frame fixing points would have to be relocated.

There is normally sufficient tolerance in the fixing points to do this.

Mine was shimmed up some.

P.O. Must have known about these issues, though!

It's easy to forget to do it as the build progresses, unless you understand the implications that can be caused later, by not doing it !

I have been looking at doing this with my +2S, the proposition made more easy because I am putting in a new chassis. I do agree that not much adjustment is needed.

I'll be using an alloy BDP block on my next engine build for my 1966 S2. I'm told this is as tall as a xflow so I'm worried about bonnet to cam cover clearance. It occurred to me that because the block is taller and it is a Weber head, that the thing to do for a little more clearance is to ditch the intake side motor mount that is made higher for the standard Weber head carb clearance and just go with the one used on the Stromberg engines. Does this make sense?
