5 speed propshaft removal

PostPost by: vxah » Sat Nov 05, 2022 8:56 am

I’m aware of how the 4 speed shaft can be removed with the diff/engine/gearbox in situ
But how about a 5 speed shaft from an Elan?
I don’t mind removing the differential unit as it could do with new planet gears anyway but, would the shaft come out the back or will the 5 speed allow it to pass out the front as per the 4 speed?
This is of course always supposing I can get the front flange unbolted somehow!?

If you're not adverse to using an angle grinder on your frame....

I do know I have an hole on the right side of the tunnel but, will that give me enough room to get in and undo the front bolts? I thought it only lined up with a 4 speed?
I don’t fancy cutting a hole along the bottom of the backbone really although it seems to make life easier!
