Just watching the latest Retro Power vid, the first few minutes show fitting a 5 speed box into an Escort.

Don't know if this is of any help , the gearbox comes from BGHGeartech http://www.bghgeartech.co.uk/html/5_speed.html and the alloy housings from Tracsport. https://www.tracsport.com/type-9--jl4tj
Not sure if any good for Elans

Hi Wobbly, I believe that gearbox will fit.
The gearbox they are using is the Ford Type 9 as used in the Sierra.
This is the same one that Alan Voigt uses in his 5 speed conversion kits which also come with new bell housing, clutch, pressure plate, concentric slave cylinder, new tail housing, new yoke and all screws.
