Badly sealed Gearbox.

The gearbox in the Lotus Elan can be a little leaky and needs careful application of a good sealant in order to avoid oil leaks. In this video I show you how this gearbox was sealed with copious amounts of Silicone Sealant. Not the best choice especially considering it was totally refurbished 1300 miles ago........By a Lotus specialist.

mmmmm. ...... lots of small lubrication holes to get oil to the gear journals in the box. You certainly don't want silicone like that on the inside of it blocking any of those holes. You certainly need to be careful who rebuilds your box especially if you paid 1800 pounds.

Yes by "you" I meant the person in the past who paid for the rebuild all those years ago and the generic you's in the future who may pay for similar rebuilds not the you "you" who inherited the poor rebuild in your car
