speedometer angle drive adapter

PostPost by: gjz30075 » Wed Apr 29, 2020 2:19 pm

So, pictured are two angle drives: bottom one is Lotus and the top one is MGB, TR, etc. The Lotus angle
drive knurled nut is 13/16" id and the MGB one is 11/16" id. To the left is an adapter for the MGB drive and
for all intents and purposes, looks like it'll work on our 'O' ringed 'bearing' in the gearbox. Both are the same
ratio, ie, a speedometer reads the same mph when driven by either angle drive.

I don't know where I got the adapter but I'd like to find another but my question is where? Moss, Rimmer
Bros, and any other British vendor sites that I visited don't seem to list this adapter. I'm sure it's common
and I'm just missing something. They might call it something else because I've found sometimes they
list the angle drive as an adapter.

Phil, that might be it! Wish they would show the other side of the adapter but its worth a call.
Thanks!

I’ve come across various right angle drives before, check out the speedo cable fitment as well.

I know I am a bit off topic, but how does the angle drive come apart?

Greg,

Thanks for the link, there seems to be a small circlip involved that has no “ears” to engage with circlip pliers. I didn’t want to do any damage, and wondered how this clip should be removed.
