Diff bolts

PostPost by: l10tus » Fri Sep 27, 2019 10:45 pm

Can anyone confirm the size and type of bolt used to join the aluminium diff housing to the cast iron diff nose, (there are 8no. bolts used), please?
Philip.

If you have the diff brace then you will need one bolt that is slightly longer to go through the brace spacer, the spacer with brace is approx 20 mm thick so you need a longer bolt to suit and its a pain to fit that bolt as there is little room with the body on.
When I replaced the chassis I drilled a hole in the chassis opposite the bolt and used an allan headed bolt so it would be easier to remove if the diff has to come out in the future.

You're right about the one long bolt !

I should have remembered that as I modified my diff brace to pick up another two bolts on the diff flange last April.
