after cursing the design of gear oil containers [one litre] with the pull-out spout which requires contortionist abilities and powerful fingers/hands to squeeze the stuff out, solved the problem...
discard or cut off the spout.....drill hole on the sealing cap, insert about 500mm of clear plastic tubing as a tight fit in the hole and to reach the bottom of the container......use a quick clamp [bar type] to squeeze the container.....easy!

I use one of these. Works a treat but I'm not sure if you can obtain them outside Australia.

Hi
My method on my +2 is to fit a long plastic tube down into the engine bay and into the gear box filler access,
then open the gear oil bottle and fit the end into the plastic tube, hang it from the garage beam and let it drain into the gearbox. Tube is about 12mm ID
Then go and have a cuppa

I made a pressurized one from an old but sturdy petrol can and a schrader valve, it now has a very interesting shape like it has eaten all the pies!!! The drawback is that it keeps pumping o?l until I can release the pressure so it gets messy when the o?l level reaches the filler hole and starts overflowing.
That one looks like a proper mechanical pump and the stub to drain back the excess o?l is a great idea, I would buy one in a heartbeat if they are available in europe, anyone sees them on E-bay please post the link.

This works a treat for me:

I actually bought it to bleed the oil feed to the central heating boiler when it ran out of kerosene, but it's then become very useful ineed in the workshop

I use the same - perfect for the gearbox and diff on the elan and plus 2 and also other cars such as diffs and transfer case on the Landcruiser and transaxle on the Esprit
cheers

This UK pump looks similar to the Australian Tom Thumb pump, though not exactly the same. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Draper-FHP-1L-23242-Multi-Purpose/dp/B008YFX1S6

Fred, cost of $0 hard to beat!
Having had a boat, any marine dealer has a simple pump thing that screws onto a standard gear oil plastic container, not expensive as I recall.
They are used to fill the outdrive for winter storage as you pump the oil in from the bottom and vent to the top, to be sure water is not left in the drive over winter.
Gave up the boat as get enough sun in the Loti, my preferred, and original interest.
