Gear-lever repair ?

I thought the gear-lever metalastic joint was a little too loose, but ended up shearing it off !( heavey handed !)
Question is, can this be successfully welded / repaired, or is it scrap?
Has anyone experience of repairing a similar break in their gear-lever ?
Your thoughts would be appreciated.
Regards,
Phil.

Yep, Join the club. Mine snapped off too and i've been looking for one for months with no joy.lotus-gearbox-f37/gear-selector-t33355.html
A mate of mine drilled and tapped it so i could then put a bolt in and cut the head off to get this
It looks fairly decent and tightens up well but i'm tempted to weld or braze it in position so it doesn't undo.
BTW i struggled to get a new Top nut and Sue miller had just had a batch made up (so worth a try there)

Mike,Chris,
Thanks for the information and swift replies, it's much appreciated.
Seems I'm not the first to encounter this issue.
Drill, Tap and screw insert looks a decent answer to me?
Great replies, thanks again.
