Surprise clutch thing

Had the engine out this week for a possible issue unrelated to the clutch: noticed the D ring that activates the clutch was significantly worn from rubbing against the release bearing! Oddly it wasn't noisy enough to think there was a problem, or at least in my hearing frequency, and the clutch worked fine. It was only partially out of position on one side, little springs still in place. I suspect the clutch lever was bumped when putting combined eng/trans into the car partially dislodging the D ring off the groove.

My clutch fork waited until everything was in place before it gleefully tinkled its self apart. many strong epithets and Anglo Saxon mutterings ! Ed
