Bell housing dust cover

Hi
Just been searching the forum but can't seem to find the right info.
A few days ago I was checking over my 68 S4, listing jobs and on looking underneath I spotted that the dust cover was missing where the bellhousing meets the engine, leaving access to all kinds of muck. Now I'm pretty sure they were fitted although I cannot find any ref in the workshop manual. I've searched the usual suppliers with no joy. Anyone any info on what should be fitted, part number, can it be fitted with engine gearbox connected?
It seems odd it wasn't fitted when the gear box was rebuilt not that many miles ago, before I bought it.

Do you mean items 25 and 26 here? It is shown in the Engine Block section of the Parts Book. Listed as back Plate - Upper and Back Plate - Lower, but as Phil mentions often called sandwich plate.
The picture is from Ray's site at rdent.com. It lists the part numbers as well, but there seems to be question marks regarding model number changeover.
Spyder may have them? They supplied a revised lower plate to me with my MT75 five speed, although I expect it was sized for a Zetec or something as it required modification to fit the TC. Maybe check if you already have the top plate; I understood it is required to get clutch spacing right? You can see it looking down at the top of the bell.

SJ Sportscars do both upper (?36) and lower (?33) plates. Expensive though for what they are

Same as mk 2 cortina and escorts fitted with Kent engines, if that helps your eBay searching

Thanks for the replies, I'll be getting it sorted soon.
During my searching and reading your responses triggered a memory of when, in the mid eighties, my father and I built a pre litigation Westfield 7, basically a replica Lotus 7 series 3. The memory was that when we fitted the X flow engine to the cortina box the lower (dust cover) sandwich plate was missing, a quick trip to the local car breakers produced the goods quick smart. A twinge of nostalgia, perhaps, but also wishing for such easily available bits.

I presume that the SJS one is exactly the same and it's cheaper even when you consider SJS prices are minus the good old VAT.
