Looking for a Diff Alloy Casing

PostPost by: CG901 » Sun May 11, 2014 5:34 pm

Hi All,
Just got mine off to discover a broken mounting. Before I weld it back and hope for the best, anybody got a old one laying around you would part with? Thanks.

Is it possible to tig weld the mounting bolt section? Would this weaken the casing?

If you have managed to break one, you should probably anyway install one of the strengthening bars fitted to the later models.

It's a steel beam that fits across the top using the same mounting holes.

I've seen pictures of Diff cases that have been welded at the top, so I think it is possible.

Bill, good suggestions. I did get that stiffening brace and plan to install it. Only a guess, but I think the diff mounting broke off when a donut let loose and did a lot of damage on the chassis cross member.

One of mine was welded up about 15 years ago and still going strong, see this thread:

Weld it up. This one has had both ears replaced in total and survived 20 years of track use. Not a big fan of the diff brace.....just keep everything tight.
