Reverse Switch Connections

The photo shows the new reverse light switch that I have fitted to the box and tested to make sure it shorts out ok. My question is that I have not come across this type of brass connection before and they seem to be a smaller diameter than normal bullet connectors. Would it be best just to solder the wires to these and then insulate them with heatshrink tubing or similar or is there a proprietry type connector? Also, I have yet to buy the new wiring looms for the car and was wondering if anyone could tell me if the reverse light wires are normally part of the main cable loom or not? If it is a seperate 2 wire cable I need to make up, where is the rough position of the cable break? Thankyou for any advice.

On my +2 it's a separate two wire pigtail that is 11 1/2" long, ending in those lovely (where did that come from ) bullet connectors.
Edit: It also has an inch or so grommet at the connector end as it goes through the body into the interior to mate with the main harness. Here's a picture.

Hi William, I believe my car has never been rewired! The loom cable comes out of the car through the grommet and the bullet connectors are in the engine bay for the reverse switch. This allows a faulty switch to be replaced without faffing in the car for connections. Lyn...

Inside, outside, wet side, dry side, you can choose. I think the pigtail is long enough to go either way.

The answers that you have had regarding cable length and location have been +2 related I think. My engine is out at the moment so I have taken a photo showing where the reversing light switch wires come out of the engine bay loom. They are green and green/brown on the left by the yellow string. The lead connected to my switch is 18 inches long.

There you go. It's always good to include what you are working on (model, year. RH/LHD) in the original post.
Although, this way the answer is there for anyone searching for the info for either car.
