Close Ratio gearbox laygear cluster failure

I had grand elusions of refreshing one of the spare close ratio gearboxes over the Christmas holiday. The input shaft seemed to have excessive play so I thought the bearings were worn. However upon disassembly, the cause of the play became evident with complete carnage inside. I'm not sure I can even source a laygear cluster for the close ratio box (2.5 first gear). Perhaps a Quaife straight cut kit is in order. Does anyone know if someone has reproduced the close ratio gears in helical type?

I dont know anyone making new helical cut gears for these boxes on a production basis, I am sure some one would do it.... if you gave them a large enough amount of money for a one off production.
The Quaiffe straight cut gears are the only new gear sets available off the shelf. They are strong and great in my competition Elan but really to noisy for a road car IMHO.
cheers
