5 speed short shift?

Hi everybody,
Quick question, has anybody ever successfully fitted a short shift to a 5 speed Lotus gearbox?
I had a look around the archives and apart from this thread -
lotus-gearbox-f37/gearbox-prep-t26588-30.html
(page 3, post by vernon).
I couldn't find anything mentioned but I found this on ebay and it got me thinking, obvious apart from the fact it is for a mk3 capri, I have no idea if the thread is right or if it would even fit in the 5 speed box.

If it would fit, 1st dibs on it please!
I am about to change the gearbox oil over to Redline MTL now that I know it is fully functional, so the gear stick needs to come out anyway, which got me thinking.

Salut Innes
That looks like what I bought but I haven't fitted my 'box yet. I know the thread is the same, so what I can do when I get back from hols is to screw it in and see if it actually chages gear on th bench.
Graham Boulton, the 5-speed Lotus 'box guru advised me strongly against a quick-shift - he said the baulk rings were too fragile for rough treatment.
So you feel the throw is too long on the standard lever ?
I'm not sure I'll ever be using mine - I could send it to you to try if you want. Don't forget to leave the 'box in 4th.

I could understand why Graham Boulton would be worried about rough treatment of the baulk rings.
However just because you shorten the throw of the gearstick doesn't mean you have to abuse it does it?
Or am I missing something key here?

Depends on why you want a quick-shift....do you want to shorten the throw of the gear lever (as I did and it's good) or do you want to shift gears quickly (not so good)...
