5 Speed Alloy Bellhousing

I guess its value is in converting an Elite Lotus 5 pspeed box into a Plus 2 5 speed box. In simple terms you just need the new bell housing and tail housing to do it. Elite boxes are relatively cheap ( 500 pounds?) and relatively easy to find, 5 speed plus 2 boxes in unknown condition are expensive if you can find one ( 1500 pounds plus ?). The difference in price is what the bell housing and tail housing are worth, how you split it between each key component up to you and I guess depends on the hassle to convert the Elite bell housing or tail housing in some way to suit an Elan / Plus 2.
I guess the alternative is to get a one off bell housing cast and my guess is that is much more thna the alternatives above just to get a pettern made if you have access to an orginal bell housing to base it on.
cheers

Salut
Does this bell housing with an Elite 'box fit a Plus 2 without modification? Is the gearstick in the usual position?
Are Elite tail housings difficult to come by and what needs to be done to it and the rest of the drive train to fit and work?
Merci et @+

First question....No,the gear-stick is about 4 inches to the rear..
I spent many ???'s and time converting the Elite tail-housing so the gear-stick was in the correct location and the tail-housing and output shaft shortened (and broached) as a direct swap but the "bulk" of the tail-housing would not fit in the centre section of the frame...
