Blue 25 tooth speedo gear

My speedo isn't working so I checked back to the right angle drive and all was well. After removing the gear the gear was fine but the square opening at the end of the shaft was rounded, thus no speedo action. So I know it's probably been asked a million times but is the blue (25 tooth) gear available? I'll make some calls tomorrow, but thought I'd ask here first. It seems unussual that this would get rounded off, I would expect the problem to be in the angle drive, or the cable. Is this common

Last time I spoke to Sue Miller about speedo problems I think she had most of the gear wheel selections.
Worth a call!

Cable from angle drive is broken and the other half is stuck in the gear shaft. The end of the shaft is rounded off and the angle drive turns but a little stiff. My guess is because the angle drive got harder to turn the cable broke inside the shaft and then rounded off the remainder of the shaft until it quit reading on the speedo. So after a couple of calls no luck yet on a new gear. I'll send the angle drive out for repair if not too expensive, otherwise I'll look for suitable replacement. I see lots of them on eBay, but with the wrong end on the transmission input. has anyone tried to modify a Jag, MGB, etc angle drive to work on the Elan?

Hi Russ
I have some green (24 tooth) gears if you don't have any luck finding the blue 25 tooth driven gear. All are used but are likely to be serviceable.
