Does anyone know someone in the UK that can repair an alloy diff carrier with oval holes? Solutions? Machine out and bush/sleeve? Weld and redrill?

David,

I've the same problem. Am just about to have some prototype "top-hat" washers
made (ie fitting one on each side of the ear).
Pattern was taken from an unused original diff casing, courtesy of Susan Miller.
Should be able to try these soon.

Regards,
Stuart.

Tell me more........... How do you fit your top-hats? What material were you going to use. Is this for the top brackets and the bottom brackets?

David,

The trial set will be in mild steel since fettling will be required.
I've measured several alloy cases and all are different.

Once a set is made, I'll post some pictures/diagrams.

Regards,
Stuart.
