Hi,
Has anyone looked at or fitted a Toyota W55 5 speed gearbox to a +2?
Thanks,
Les.

Conversion Components used to recommend the T50 transmission. They claimed to have an Elan kit, but it is questionable just how plug and play that is. Colin also claims to be able to source alternative gear ratios to improve on the wide standard sedan ratios.
It has been quite some time since I talked with these people.
Last year (and many posts in earlier years) there were a bunch of posts on 5-speed conversions (and 6-speed conversions also). See http://bit.ly/aQpmTO and many others for more details.

Looking at this website the Elan kit does not look very plug-and-play. As usual the gear change lever appears to be several inches too far back and it appears the drive shaft must be modified or a new one made up.
