spigot bearing, which way round?

Hi Guys,
Which way round does the spigot bearing go (the needle bearing type)?
I take it it is with the lip seal outermost.
Also should I lubricate it with anything?

The inner seal is to the outside so it retains grease (pic shows seal at top)
The bearings are greased but I always just add a smear of hi-melting point grease.
