Sill Trim Trouble...

PostPost by: greg.harvey » Fri May 07, 2004 5:11 pm

Hi all,

First post... here goes. The sill trim on my +2S 130 came off a few weeks ago. I bought the replacement clips since the ones I had scattered in to the undergrowth, and I have the little black plastic "thingys" that were still attached to the car, but I can't figure out for the life of me how clips fit to "thingys" and trim in order to get everything on to the car!

Clear as mud? Can't find any help anywhere else. Hope someone here knows how to fit the sill trim to a +2 because I'm stuck!

Cheers,

G

Hello, are you refering to the metal strip running on the outside of the car along the rocker panel between the wheel wells?

Interesting, I have a similar problem. My +2 came with the trims off (the dealer had had it resprayed).

I've since got hold of the metal clips, which fit to the trim itself, but I'm curious as to the best method of installing the clips to the body of the car. (I don't have the little black thingies you see). I could pop rivet them on or use some other kind of fastener. Does anyone have any experience with this.

Also 1 of the trims is longer than the other (by about an inch or 2 iirc). Guess they must have been hand made by lotus. :)

Hi,

I should report back on this problem. I did mean the metal strip, btw... Basically, I was told by a Lotus specialist garage I called for advice that it's best to just glue it! So that's what I did. Seems fine.

Cheers,
