Boot Seal S4 Elan

I have been away from home with no lotus to play with, and spent some of my time searching for a solution to kinks at the boot seal corners.

One of our USA contributors showed an image of his boot seal without a kink which was a different profile to that which I am trying to use. Annoyingly I am unable to find my way back to the post showing the seal and the man’s name. However I think I have found the seal on the boot of an Alfa Romeo GT/GTV from 1968 onwards.

I have bought one of these seals from classicalfa.com part number RB014. The parts man is Jacob Flack, very helpful.

The seal arrived this weekend and is about 150mm too long, fits my car, and has gone around the corners without a kink. Next job is to get inside the boot with the lid shut to see if also seals.
