Mid 65 S2 interior door lever assembly

PostPost by: h20hamelan » Wed Jan 31, 2024 11:34 pm

Great day all

Looking for information on S2 interior door lever, and I suppose the exterior connection too.
Suspecting early S2 & S1 have the key in a different location. Also, I believe the interior lever is a bit different.

1, photos, links etc. I have the single upright lever (maybe this is where my confusion comes from-if there is another variety?) I require the right side.

2 is there an option to add the more available later S3-4 release and or is it worth it (maybe this is actually just a wanted ad or I should sell my left and change to 3-4?)

As Miller and SJS don’t seem to list an option. TTR makes bodies and doors, what do people do?

Wow!
Yes please!
Looks correct.

Maybe a longer list, this was the first item for the hunt.
Suppose I will also be looking for exterior & interior handle (don’t particularly care about condition) also rod and hinge etc. There appear to be no mount on the body either. So…if available also please?

to really confuse the situation, back to my first post in this thread

is there another option.

If I take a plug/mold of my S4 inner door skin, I presume I can use available parts. The S2 door lever, latch, and associated parts seem unobtainable/rare.
If I were to modify my S2 doors, what would the down side be, and benefits?

but maybe someone has a set for the right, and I am in absolutely no rush

I think it highly unlikely that the S3 and S4 hardware could be adapted to suit s1/2 cars but then again they did put people on the moon...........

Just to be clear, there are no links or rods on the S1/2 assemblies unlike the S3/4 (PITA system)
The opening buttons act directly on the catch mechanism.
The left and right are identical in operation so unsure why you think there is a difference apart from been handed.
They occasionally come up on ebay but often do not have the key/lock and are advertised as 26R type, this only means they were from the rear door from a BMC car.......can’t remember which one.....Morris Oxford or Austin I think. The front BMC ones have the key operated lock but are quite rare.

Maybe one will turn up at a jumble this spring.
I will post here if one is found.
Please share and do let me know if you see one.

Cheers

There are two types of internal handles.
The first as fitted to mine (S2 Feb '65) has a horizontal top.

The second has a stubbier, up-turned handle.

Sorry, I can't help with which style was first or when they changed.
