Random spacer bobbin fell off

PostPost by: Mrmci » Sat Oct 07, 2023 11:46 am

Hi chaps,

I was performing some enthusiastic driving and had a horrible clonk and bang as I went round a right hand corner. I stopped, the suspension and steering feel fine but I found a spacer bobbin on the road, it's definitely mine as it was still warm. I jacked the car up and found the corresponding bolt wedged on the left hand side engine mount gusset by the chassis rail. Any ideas on what this may be from, I can't see anything missing and the car seem to drive ok.

Cheers

Mark

Looks like one of the spacers that sits between the engine mounting and the block on the exhaust side?

If it just fell out, there shouldn't have been a bang, there should be 3 others. Unless this is the last one......

Awesome, thankyou very much. I'll check. I think the bang may have been as it rattled out and bounced off the road back onto the car. At least I know where it comes from now.

I'd check quite soon....if the other bolts are tight the spacer would be wedged in tight and should stay put even if the corresponding bolt fell out. I'd strongly suggest that the other bolts are loose too.....if you leave it too long the threads in the block will become damaged due to the bolts shifting around at every gear change and on/off throttle. Not good. Even worse is if the rest of them come out!
