HI All,

Does anyone know what this chassis number might tell us? 0115K -- in the standard location. This chassis is, presumably, a spare for my '64 Elan 1600 (unit 3370) -- which is on (a strengthened) # 260426. Is the spare possibly the original? Seems an odd number.

Thanks.

Not an odd number at all. It refers to a Federal Series 4 that came off the production line in March or April 1971 and was invoiced by the factory in September of that year.

Certainly not the original to 26/3426, (the 3 replaced the 0 in VINs after Unit No 0049) which was produced in February 1964

Thanks Tim. I am often humbled by what I don't know (and what I thought I knew) around here...
