OEM style carpet source + latex felt

PostPost by: Briggs1 » Mon Jun 12, 2023 7:48 pm

Is there a US based source for the same style Capet (loop style) that was used in the early 70’s? Black. Not looking for sets, just raw carpet.

Also, I did a search but did not see a US based source for latex back under felt. Is there anything in the states?

Thanks in advance

Aldridge.uk has a large selection of carpets for all Elans. They are not in the US but they offered me free shipping on door panels. They ship in bulk to SNG Barratt, (Jaguar parts) in New Hampshire. There may be a shipping charge from there. I'm not sure. I believe they sell carpet by the yard as well.

Also, AutoMat in Long Island has a selection of different carpet styles. I've heard they supply quality carpets.

I found their web site here…

https://autointeriors.biz/Carpeting/Mat ... tions.html

This link is directly to a descriptive price list (current pricing needs to be determined) which shows the various available types of carpet materials quite clearly.

I didn’t see a latex backed underfelt, but they have other materials listed on their various price list pages.

When I recarpeted my 67 DHC, I laid out the old pieces removed and made patterns. It takes 12 sq yards of carpet to cover the interior. I had a few scraps that covered the boot floor pieces. YMMV

In his book, Brian Buckland states that Automat stock the original loop pile carpet.

Is in Ontario, Canada. About a 8 hr drive for you!
Stop by Niagara Falls for some romance :D

Sorry, forgot you are a White-Water man too. The Niagara Falls Gorge is one of the most spectacular Class/Grade 5 sections on the planet. Simply massive. They still offer permits, as I recall in about 1990 I had applied for C1. Though the timing wasn’t right, my friend ended up doing it C1 the next year.
But then your only 4 hours from the Ottawa river, say no more.
Another edit, Lachine while your there of course!
