Dash mount to Tunnel in +2 S130 1971

PostPost by: hastu » Wed Feb 08, 2023 1:21 pm

I prepare to refit the Dash to my car but i dont know how to fix the Dash to the Tunnel. At the under side off the Dash is a Bracket with 2 holes. I guess it should be fixed somehow to the 2 Bobbins on top of the tunnel. The Screws (XUCS 0616) that come from the under side of the Chassis trough this Bobbins are so short, that the upper part of the Bobbin stays empty. Do i need to use longer Screws, or an other Screw from the upper side?

The angle bracket is screwed down from the top.

My plus2 has two 1.5 inch Unf 3/8 bolts holding the dashboard bracket to the body/ chassis; with big penny washers and spring washers; the RH side carries a couple of earths. ..Tony

thanks for the inputs. The bobbins have a thread at least from the bottom side. The upper part of the thread may not be visible because of the paint over it. I will try to place a screw from the top as well. Otherwise i try a longer screw from the bottom up, and fix the bracket with washer and Nut

The bobbins are clearance holes no threads. The threads are in the metal blocks that are welded to the Chassis.
Set Screws fitted from top inside the car.

If you are putting a bolt in from underneath suggest it is long enough to take TWO nuts: one to secure the chassis, body and bracket and leaving enough thread to take a second nut to secure earths without needing an assistant under the car..! Tony

Please don't put Set Screws from below that's wrong. It must be from top inside to clamp bobbins to Chassis. Also for good Earth and easy to access if any Earth problems.

I concur, and ask how it is even feasible to insert a bolt from underneath!

These two bolts are important to the car as they are two of six main bolts holding the body rigidly to the chassis. You MUST make sure they are of the right size and properly fitted - not like one of mine where a previous dipstick owner forced a metric threaded bolt into the UNF tapped chassis block…

i HCA
no problem to insert the screws from below to the Bobbins of the Body. According to the Tecch manual, this is also intended. It is about screws 7 and 8

Sorry but no,
Fitted from above.
I have worked on 4 different +2s and 1 Sprint. All correct and fitted from top as they left factory.
But Hatsu it's your car so you can choose.

Ditto

Bolts 7 & 8 are fitted from above, inside the car.
