Help to identify rear lights from an Elan.

Hi.
I'm having a clear out and found these two rear lights which I took off an Elan bodyshell many years ago. The car was very much cobbled together.
I'm trying to pin them down to a particular model if possible and knowing Lotus, what other cars were they fitted to?
I've had a brief search on the net but nothing is obvious. I understand that they may not even be from a Lotus at all.
Thanks,
Andy.

Not standard for an Elan or any other Lotus as far as I know. Possibly used on an Evante. Or used when S4 lamps were no longer available. The attached photo is from an article in Classic and Sportscars on Paul Matty…. Look at the brown Elan on the left.
Hillman Hunter may be a good call.

Hello Richard.
Thanks for the reply.
I did mention that the remains of the car was cobbled together and it seems that you are correct. Had a good look at the lights and found the code L782. These lights were fitted to the Hillman Hunter, Aston Martin DBS, and one of the Lotus 7 models.
Thanks again.
Andy.

The lights were also fitted to the SE5 GTE Scimitar from 1968 to 1972. Here’s a pic of mine
The version fitted to the brown Elan have the reversing light incorporated as in the SE5A from 1972 to 1975
