plus 2 windscreen

Just personal opinion and I could be totally wrong but my fear would be that the average Autoglass fitter would not have a clue on how to deal with the chrome on plastic moulding which comes in a straight length.

A rubber seal cannot to my knowledge be fitted to the standard bonded screen type +2 bodyshell without first bonding/creating an upstand lip along the bottom to hold a rubber seal. There is just nothing to attach a rubber seal to at the bottom on the later +2 bodyshell.
Having said the above I am led to believe Spyder have on occasion though created/fibreglassed a bottom lip upstand to use a rubber seal usually when doing extensive rebuilds.
If you know different to this then I would be very interested to hear how they did it and what then holds the screen in place at the bottom?

Fair enough. But if there is nothing at the bottom of the aperture for the rubber to hang on it doesn't matter how wide the rubber is I fail to understand what holds the bottom of the screen in place.
Maybe your car has at some point been modified to take a rubber? The early +2's used a rubber seal and insert anyway.
What year is your +2?

I have a very long and sorry story regarding Autoglass.
Dont use them. I had to the first time due to the insurance company saying they were their "approved" supplier.
They are only approved because they are all over the country, not because they have any clue about fitting a windscreen into an Elan.
The next insurance companies I have used, I have made sure I can get a windscreen replaced by who I want.
The second time I needed a screen, I used a local company to me. The guy I took it to knew exactly what he was looking at when I turned up in the elan.
I can put you in touch if you are local to Dorset.

What car do you have and where are you?
I have a +2 screen. Yours for a small donation to Wateraid and you arrange collection.

Canada eh!
Out west a member of our Lotus Car Club of BC organized a group buy of several Plus 2 and Elan windshields last fall. I assume he went this route after being unable to easily source one here at reasonable cost. The packing and shipping becomes prohibitive if your glass is shipped as a single order. The supplier crated several windshields together, which reduced costs considerably.
Shout out to the dedicated club members that got together to break open the crates. One chap hauled several windshields to Alberta (about 1,000 kms east). So cool and appreciated.
I haven’t installed mine yet. My local glass guy suggested waiting until we have warmer temperatures to ensure the gaskets are fully flexible. I have the simpler rubber and plastic insert style seal, which I sourced from Ray at RD Enterprises. Unfortunately the Plus 2 screen was only available in clear. I have sourced a black stick on tint strip from the UK that will hopefully look OK; the stuff from China looked terrible due to an almost mirror finish on the exterior.
Maybe the Ontario club might be interested in doing something similar? I assume the UK supplier will send an individual windshield for the somewhat higher shipping cost.
