Checking in to see if anyone has had an issue with the fit of the boot lid. Mine rides high in the right corner. have check for any past damage and have measured every possible way I can think of.
The lid looks good with no damage.
Any suggestions?
Richard

That’s probably the case, mine measures about 5/8 from top, to top of bolt.
Born, and brought home from the hospital (no seat belt (wtf)) in a baby!

You didn't say whether it is front or rear, right corner that's high. If it's the front corner, here's another thing to check for. If the car has repair in that area or a respray, make sure that the recesses for the hinges in both the boot lid or the rear deck haven't been inadvertently filled in. It happens. There should be pockets in both surfaces for the hinges to seat into. If one or the other is filled in it will cause a mismatch.

Zetec+ 2 under const, also 130S. And another 130S for complete restoration. Previously Racing green +2s with green tints. Yellow +2 and a couple of others, all missed. Great to be back 04/11/2021 although its all starting to get a bit out of control.

Yes the early cars have the hinge recessess too, they're needed to allow the boot to open properly due to the curvature of the rear scuttle panel.
On my last Plus 2 when I got it back from painting I could not get the boot to fit properly and then realised the painter had filled them in - caused me no end of problems. Hard explain but the hinges need to be on the same horizontal axis to work and the recesses achieve that. Without them the hinges try to pivot laterally when you open and close the boot or else the hinges bind up.
I ended up getting a pal to mill up some wedge shaped 'wafers' in alumnium to slip under the hinges which corrected the issue.

Hi
Interesting. There is an early bodyshell on Ebay at the moment that does not appear to have the recesses, nor do they look to have been filled......

Are you worried that your '70 has an early shell? The pictures I posted (yellow) are of my, March 70 +2S, 0053N.

It will have them Berni, and I think they are just visible - they have to have them for the reasons I mentioned earlier. The boot hinges will not work unless they are on the same horizontal plane (ask me how I know!).
PS: my mid '68 car has them
