+2 bonnet

Any tricks on alignment of plus2 bonnet, mine is all over the place. Thanks

It's only adjustable laterally and depends on getting the set screws balanced on each side.

I usually screw them into both sides of the bonnet until the screw end is flush with the outside of the bonnet flange bobbin then offer the bonnet up and ensure the gap is equal on both sides. Then I screw one set screw into the wing bobbin on one side until it bites for a few threads, check that gaps on both sides look good and then screw in the other side. If not then repeat until it looks right.

Two people are useful but I got used to doing it on my own.

I did toy with the idea of making two nylon spacer washers to set the bonnet gaps on both sides but never followed the idea through.

Jono's response is spot on IF the bobbins have not been bugg@red. If like mine, your car has had successive owners who do not know the difference between UNC and metric, then you have a headache on your hands - only cure is to reset all the bobbins which I guess might be best done with engine out and a rotisserie...
