Green base coat on S4

I was having the Elan painted this summer and discovered a layer of green paint under the two layers of yellow. I liked the colour and decided to ditch the yellow and go with the green.
It doesn't look like the standard green that I have seen on other Elans but I have seen it on other Lotus cars from the period.
Does anyone have any insight into the colour? I have a certificate from the Lotus archives but it says that the colour was not recorded.
Was this the finished colour or was Lotus using old paint as a primer?

Do you think your car was originally painted green, then yellow, then back to green?
It looks like the grey is below the green?

It was probably delivered in primer and painted by the dealer in the customers choice. I think this was pretty common approach in NA.
