Before and after a few hours with a bending brake and pop rivet gun......the old plastic shell was toast but provided the template for the parts.

That's a great idea. Never thought of doing that. Although I did something very similar with some interior panels on a 1966 Hillman Minx.
My centre console was also cracked and split underneath. I re-inforced mine with fibreglass. Has been like that now for years.
If that eventually falls apart I'll get my tin snips out.

Fibreglass repro centre console bases for late +2's (I think Frank only does the early ones) are available from SJS and Kelvedon.
