Battery box size S1/S2

PostPost by: Frogelan » Wed Feb 10, 2021 9:48 pm

Would it be possible for a kind soul to measure the "footprint" and "height" of the battery box in an original S1/S2 body?

I have looked through past discussions (which are mainly about battery sizes) and have not found this measured explicitly. Although I have seen original bodies (see attached photo) I have forgotten to measure this. As my project is 500km away and the UK is self-isolating...

Reason for asking: these seem to be eliminated on most repro bodies I have seen and as it is fairly predictable that the FIA will insist on their reinstatement on FIA cars (this was one of the Appendix K inspectors favourite points on MGBs), it would makes sense to put this back in.

Many thanks

Andrew

24cm across by approximately 8.5cm high. I say approximately for the height as I was trying to take the under felt into account.
