Elan and +2 windscreen availability in N America

PostPost by: h20hamelan » Sun Sep 20, 2020 9:34 pm

Has anyone had any luck recently finding glass wind screen/shield here in N. America

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Lotus-Twin-Cam ... SwZGJcZGxt

Think the only Twink produced in those years was the Elan.

Suspect Bean can get them. More specifically, Canada. Any suppliers N. of 49?

I sourced mine at ProSource Glass in 2014. They are on the East Coast and shipping can get expensive.

Talk to Richard. I have no connection with ProSource. I'm just a past customer who received very good service.. Like I said, it was awhile ago. Good luck in your search..

I can pick up at the Pilkington warehouse here in Ohio. We may do a trip to Detroit later this month if that helps.
Canada is pretty broad. Even Ontario is pretty wide.

I think ProSource is out of business (website not active), not Pilkington (website active) https://www.pilkington.com/en-gb/uk/aut ... assic-cars

We're talking about availability in N America! I was talking about Pilkington Classic in OH, they may well still exist in the UK; see https://lotuselan.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=46484&start=15&hilit=Pilkington

So, none of the Lotus parts suppliers in US has windscreens available? Bean, RD, JAE, etc.? The auction site price seems really high to me.

Perhaps a group buy is in order?

From Oasis1

"Ok, So..the bad news. Pilkington classic is Gone. They no longer exist as of the end of 2019. They do not have any windscreens or lotus glass of any kind. Still searching....Thanks for everyones help, Jim"

They do exist to be sure. N American availability is the problem.

This is what I was hoping to do. Not that insurance won't cover it. But I don't like being told what to do with my vehicles.
Sure would be nice, if someone east and west had stock.
I know JAE, Bean, and RD are busy. Wonder if we can help?

1) I correspond with Pilkington Group Limited in May of this year and recieved the attached response from them.
Yes they had them @ the time.
2) The one I received from Bean was dropship from Pilkington Uk.
3) To verify current availability just email Pilkington and ask. The product will be shipped from the UK.

yes, I had done this a few months back
never heard back from them, or [email protected]
this is where I was wondering on the N American offerings these days
had reply from UK, and this is fine as they are available.
noticed the price of the fleabay item, and started wondering again
I just purchased some glass for a few 1991-93 trucks, and a 1995 Volvo wagon. Less than $60 cdn each, albeit Chinese junk 5mm vs 6mm on a couple of them.

I bought from here in 2017 and picked it up myself; S4 Elan windshield $405.00 plus tax. The website doesn't come up but both phones ring albeit no one picked up. Sorry, that's all I have.
