Lotus Elan

Elan +2s130 refinishing

PostPost by: Tdawcaw » Fri Jul 03, 2020 11:51 am

Hi,
My first post on here so please be patient.
I have owned my elan for nearly 40 years and in that time done a tremendous amount of work on it including several engine rebuilds and a chassis change/rebuild.
Due to other commitments the car has now been off the road for many years but I have finally got round to restoring it. sadly it needs the bodywork totally refinishing. Can anyone recommend a company in the West Yorkshire area capable of doing this? The car is now pretty well stripped down in readiness but would need transporting for the work to be done.

I had my +2 re-sprayed a couple of years ago by Steve Edwards in Halifax and can recommend him. He's used to working with fibreglass, mainly TVRs. If you look on his website mine is the yellow +2 at the bottom of the page....................... https://www.steve-edwards.com/bodywork-renovation.php

I'd stripped mine as it sounds like you have to a rolling shell and he had a mate with a transporter who moved it to and from his workshop.

He works on his own and his overheads are reasonable, although bodywork repairs and a professional full re-spray on a +2 are never going to be cheap.

Thanks Steve,
Funnily enough I've already been in touch with him, and seen your elan on his website - I just didn't know whether he had done a good job or not!
It's nice to get a recommendation.
