Hood (Bonnet) spring issue

I am fitting a new TTR radiator and having an issue with the 2 springs. How does one fit the spring? without the spring making contact with the new radiator. I believe the loop end heads towards the hood? that's how I've always attached the springs. turning the hook end maybe a solution.. the strength you need to attach these springs.
I've noticed in other posts that some have the loop end towards the frame. I'll give that a try, if anyone has a clear solution please let me know.
Best,

Dennis,
My understanding is that the loop attaches around the steering rack, like key ring. My car is an S4 with one bonnet spring.
