I saw MGB foam bases for sale at the NEC classic car restoration show last year and they looked very like the later style +2S seats. Might be worth a search. They were also not expensive.

+1 if you used already moulded foams they will be the correct density.
On my 2 "M" series TVRs i used moulded Foams from Adrian Venn the TVR specialist, result 100%.
The idea of the MGB Foams sounds good.
You will then just need the Rubber Swab/Square like on Triumphs from Rimmer Bros.
Check the Seat Frame if it needs some welding also as they break easily.

Hi Steve
Any chance you could post some pictures of your progress? I’m sure very many on here would be interested!
All the best

Where, then, lies the answer? In choice. Which shall it be: bankruptcy of purse or bankruptcy of life?

Something worth checking...
When you remove the seats put a level across the front two floor bobbins that the seat slide is bolted to. Mine were something like a 12mm difference off level, consistent on both front seats, making both seats lean outwards towards the sides of the car. Fixed with spacers

The +2S130 foams are two pieces per cushion, as the inner panel is fasten to a lip in the diaphragms to pull it down over the outer curve of the seats and provide the central flat section. SO you'll need to cut the MGB seat foam up to fit it.
Expect the diaphragms (rubber bases) to be past it. Original ones are NLA but might be able to modify other ones as suggested. I just added seat webbing and made a base from denser form to replace mine.
Also carefully look at the lower frame where it contact the base at the rear. Mine was rotted out, badly repaired and bent. SO I had to replace sections of the seat base.

You have different choices:
You don't need to cut the Foam up.
You can glue the centre panel of the Cover direct to centre panel of the Foam.
Or you can fix a Cord/Wire to the Seam of Cover centre panel. Then attach wires and push through Foam to attach to Webbing/Seat Swab with Hog Rings.
