Door & Boot locks

PostPost by: s28ven » Fri Jan 17, 2020 9:20 pm

Does anyone know if it?s possible to change the barrel on both the boot and door lock?

If so where can I purchase new barrels?

I have attached pictures of both handles.

Thanks, Steven

My handles are off the car while it is restored so I could look at them today. W/o going further than you have, it appears to me that the side door locks have a retaining device, either a cotter pin or snap ring that if it were removed, would allow the lock tumbler to be removed. But the boot latch looks to be staked in place and I'm thinking for now, that the tumbler would not be removable and replaceable for most of us.

Roger,

My boot lock cylinder was non-functional when I bought my Elan more than 40 years ago.
On my S3/SS I was able to remove the cylinder and repair it by cleaning and replacing broken and missing springs.

Still works today.

The barrels are the same as used in filing cabinet locks, CPC have them, I think.
