How to detach body from the frame, s1

PostPost by: tburdeinei » Mon Aug 19, 2019 10:04 am

I'm having trouble removing the body from the frame. Are there any exploded diagrams, pictures or videos available that show all the attachment points? I know I must have missed some.
Many thanks, Todd

Todd,
This video shows where the fixing points are in the chassis. May help you locate them.

The pair under the dash are easily missed as are the seat belt fixings.
The rest are fairly straightforward.

During one of my Elan rebuilds (S3), I found that in addition to the 16 normal attachment points, that the rearmost bolts for the inner front seat carpet protectors (bent sheetmetal under the seat side tubes) were drilled through the frame flanges near the inner seat belt attachment. When I went to lift the body with a two post lift, the entire chassis (no engine) was lifted by those two 1/4" bolts
