soft top fitting

Hi, I'm about to fit a new hood to my 1963 S1 Elan, what's the best way to go about it, I have draped it over the Windscreen frame, the Cant rails and slotted the back rail under the clips on the boot deck, it appears to be a reasonable fit however what clips are best attached first?

Well --- on my s2 I've found that attaching the rear bars that slot into the grommets first then stretching the top to fit into the slot in the windscreen frame works best.

Hi Frank,

thanks for getting back to me!
Yes, I have attached the rear bar and fitted the front into the windscreen frame slot, just as you suggest....however am I better to fit the boot deck tenax(4 per side) or the snaps along the cant rails, and the 2 on the windscreen first, as they affect the tension on the various parts of the hood, can you recall which you fitted first and how good was your fit when finished?

Regards Kenny
