Elan plus 2 Dashboard

PostPost by: Dieschelan » Mon Oct 29, 2018 4:50 pm

Hi
I want to mount the dashboard in the car but I have only 2 points to attach the dashboard in the upper part. It? possible that the 2 other bobins are missed? What?s the solution?

Regards

Diego

The other two locations are simply fiberglass tabs that the dash and the metal support brackets bolt through. No bobbins. Build up your broken off tabs with glass and resin in the same plane with the rest of the surface that has the bobbins. Line up the dash and re-drill the holes.

Mine were ?missing? as well and I?m wondering if later they decided to do away with them for some reason, but I did leave mine off and haven?t had any problems with just the two bolts of the top and the two at the bottom. Gotdpn Sauer

That may be. I'm not sure they aligned up all that well with the dash or they were a pain during production. The one above looks perfect. the other was so mis-drilled that only half the hole was there. I repaired it so at least the the tab was large enough to have a complete bolt hole.

As you can see my dash is still out and it's been awhile since I disassembled it. The metal dash brace actually bolts to the dash at the bottom and not at these tab holes. So disregard that incorrect detail.

I see your dash pad plate is hacked off the way mine was and I couldn?t figure that out either because it really seems like it could?ve gone fully across and not been a problem. Gordon Sauer

I have just bonded two tapped bobbins into those outer positions on the basis that it has to be easier to screw in the screws to tapped holes than fiddle around trying to get nuts on the back
